What is Included with the in-person sessions:

Students will receive complimentary breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the in-person training sessions.

Free transportation is available upon request, limited to pick-up and drop-off at the student’s school or registered address. Any change to the transportation address requires a signed note from a parent and must be submitted 48 hours in advance.

Students are expected to inform the instructor(s) at least 48 hours ahead of time if they will not attend the session to avoid unnecessary transportation expenses. Additionally, students must respond to food and transportation requests from program leaders or instructor(s) within 48 hours.

  • Eligible Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend the three-day Weekend Institute in Albany, NY, in April 2026 where they will stay at a hotel with their delegation leader(s) and trainers to participate in statewide events. Freshmen and Sophomores will be invited to attend only the day events on Saturday and Sunday. Transportation and meals will be provided for all students attending the weekend Institute.
  • All required paperwork, including the application, medical consent form, photo and video authorization, school transcript, letters of recommendation, and absence waiver forms (for Juniors and Seniors), must be submitted by the noted deadline(s). Failure to submit all documents may result in exclusion from the weekend institute events.

Synchronous Training Sessions (Juniors and Seniors):

These are focused on researching bills, writing arguments, and working on projects. Seniors will also have time to work on their scholarship essays and get feedback from their peers and instructors. Juniors will work on their Advocacy Projects. Freshmen and Sophomores are not required to attend but are welcome to join.

Asynchronous Training Sessions (Juniors and Seniors):

These online assignments will help you stay on track with your work, like writing bill arguments, scholarship essays, and (for juniors) the advocacy project. Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom, so you can complete them on time.
