RIGOROUS EXPLICIT ACADEMIC LANGUAGE FOR LITERACY VIRTUAL PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SEMINAR: Middle/High School
(VPLS): R.E.A.L. Literacy VPLS sessions are designed to provide a foundation on the theory of second language acquisition for non-ESL or modern language teachers. The sessions provide general content Tier 1 educators with an introduction to evidenced-based supports and strategies for a whole-school literacy acquisition instructional model. VPLS participants will spend time with colleagues in PLC-style settings to evaluate not only their content but collaborate with colleagues to analyze all curriculums for opportunities to use content materials as literacy learning opportunities. R.E.A.L. Literacy VPLSs are intended to introduce strategies that will highlight vocabulary, reading comprehension and text-based writing.
