Many heritage language learners (HLL) study their home language in the context of mixed classes, that is, classes with second language learners (L2) and heritage language learners. Because HLL students have a wide variation in their familiarity and proficiency in the heritage language, HLL classrooms need to be able to best meet their needs. In this session, we will look at different strategies to support the Spanish HLL in the World Language classroom while developing a climate of mutual respect and learning.
